10th Grade: H.W.#3, Due Friday, 9/25, Friday, (my birthday), OR 9/29, Tuesday

  1. Read LINES 1 to 432 (Tiresias: Creon is not your downfall…”) from Oedipus the King. Please record in your notebook how long it has taken you to read these pages.
  2. As you read, use post-it notes to note briefly your reactions to anything you encounter on the post-it notes in at least two places. For example, you may write “confusing, notable, surprising, fascinating, boring passages” etc. and record a quick connection to your life, the world or other texts when appropriate. For example, you may write, “This reminds me of X-Factor. Same creepy feeling.” Or, “He sounds as full of himself as _____.” You get the point. The post-it notes serve to record your initial reactions, so that you are better equipped to discuss the play in class. Again, these are very brief reactions! (It should not take you more than two minutes per post-it note).

4. Print out the following document and bring it to class aristotle_tragedy-handout

NOTE: Here is a handout on Greek theater (it was not handed it out in second period class). We did not get to everything about it in class–so this handout should make up for the missing information. Be ready to talk about the information presented on it. Greek Drama Handout

NOTE: DO NOT CLICK ON ANY OF THE ADS THAT MAY POP UP ON THIS WEBSITE. THEY ARE NOT GENERATED BY ME–NOR CAN I SEE WHAT THEY ARE. ALL ADS ARE GENERATED BASED ON YOUR SEARCH HISTORY. I’LL TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE COULD ELIMINATE THEM.
