10th Grade: H.W.#83, Due Tuesday, 6/14

The very last homework day has arrived! Break out in song and dance.

  1. As the year comes to an end, it is time for some larger reflections on how far you’ve come in this course. Think about each unit of the course from September to now (“Allegory of the Cave,” Oedipus the King, Antigone, Theban plays, Mythology, The Odyssey, The Essay on Man, Candide, Siddhartha, Macbeth, Dracula, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Master and Margarita). Which unit or book did you like the most/the least and why? What did you forget almost immediately? What have you retained? Why? What concepts/skills have you learned that you can transfer from one course to the next? What theme do you now see that connects almost all of these works of literature? What other book would you recommend (especially if you know people in other classes who talked about a book you would have liked to have read)? Jot down your thoughts. I will collect this tomorrow. PRINT THIS OUT. Submit it on Google Classroom as well.

NOTE: You are not expected to work on the above for more than 30 minutes! Consequently, write the most about those units you really have strong opinions and not so much on the others.

If you haven’t returned the Master and Margarita book–OR ANY OTHER BOOK–make sure you do so. In case you are absent and have a book with you to return, do so on the first day you come back to the building. Put your name on slip of paper and put the book into my mailbox in room 601 (the English office) or on the second floor where all the teacher mailboxes are with your name in the book.

Work on the Master and Margarita project if you have not presented yet. The presentations schedule was posted on Google Classroom on June 2nd. Double-check the date, so you know when you are scheduled to present.

PRINT OUT the Artist Statement. It should have your name, period number, date, and a title in the header. It is due on the day you are presenting. You will also have to submit it on Google Classroom (assignment) on the day you are presenting.

NOTE: If your project needs to be played on the smartboard (music, video, animations etc.), share it with me as soon as you are done with it (Dmandler@stuy.edu) before you present it.
