10th Grade: H.W.#69, Due Tuesday, 5/30

  1. Read chapter 23, “Satan’s Grand Ball.”
  2. Note on post-its the way Woland is represented in the chapter. Note anything that is surprising, confusing, entertaining, revealing and instructive in the text. What’s Margarita’s role? How well does she perform it? What role does music play?
  3. Compose one interpretative or clarifying question based on chapter 23.
  4. Brainstorm for the Master and Margarita project. By Tuesday, you should know what form your project will take and begin working on it. You will be signing up for presentation days on Tuesday. Make use of the gift of time over this extended weekend.

Johann Strauss (October 25, 1825 – June 3, 1899) conducts the orchestra on pages 224-225. Here’s what it may have sounded like. 55 seconds into it, you will see a waltz danced inside the palace. It’s worth watching (at least part of) the clip.
